Company Description Kestrel Tactical is a defense technology company that builds autonomous strike drones for places where GPS is dead. The warhead rides inside the airframe, and a mesh network coordinates up to 10,000 aircraft into a single system. The team is small and the stack is wide, so every engineer works across flight, apps, APIs, and mobile. Role Description This full-time, remote Senior Software Engineer role pays $600k to $900k base. The engineer will design, develop, test, and maintain the software that powers Kestrel's autonomous aircraft — flight software, web apps, APIs, and mobile tooling. Day-to-day responsibilities include shipping software to production, troubleshooting bugs, optimizing performance, and collaborating with a small team to deliver reliable, safety-critical systems. The role also involves code reviews and writing technical documentation. Qualifications - Experience flying drones, with a feel for the mechanics of how they stay in the air. - Hands-on experience shipping software to production across web apps, APIs, and mobile. - Proficiency in whatever language the job calls for — we don't care which ones you know today. - Understanding that we build products that kill bad people. - Experience building your own drones is a plus; FPV pilots are especially welcome, because they know hardware limits and how to push them. - Experience with real-time video or telemetry pipelines, mesh networking, embedded or edge code, or GCS/MAVLink tooling is a plus. Senior Recruiter - Role Description This full-time, remote Senior Recruiter role pays $200k to $350k base, plus a $75k placement fee on every hire you close. The recruiter will own hiring end to end at Kestrel Tactical — writing roles, sourcing passive candidates, screening, running interview loops, and closing offers. Day-to-day responsibilities include partnering directly with the people making the hiring call, keeping candidates warm when a deal gets tight, and giving a clear opinion on who we hire and why. One filter comes before everything else: you must have already placed at least one person at Kestrel Tactical. We are not training anyone on what this company is. Senior Recruiter - Qualifications - You have already placed at least one person at Kestrel Tactical. This is a hard requirement, not a preference — if you have not closed a hire with us before, do not apply. - Full-cycle recruiting experience: writing the role, sourcing, screening, running loops, and closing offers. - A track record of closing senior engineers against competing offers. - Understanding that we build products that kill bad people. - A network in defense, aerospace, robotics, or embedded systems is a plus. - Experience hiring for remote, distributed teams is a plus.
